Race and Skills
- Dave chooses to play an elven warrior. Odd chap.
Due to his race his combat skills will cost 2xp more, and his magic skills will cost 2xp less. He then chooses his primary skill set to be combat, his secondary to be magic and his tertiary to be survival.
His skill costs are therefore:
Combat skills: +1xp more
Survival skills: +2xp more
Magic skills: -2xp less. - Susan chooses to play a human rogue.
She has no modifies due to her human race, and chooses survival as her primary skill set, magic as her secondary and combat as her tertiary.
Her skill costs are therefore:
Combat skills: +2xp more
Survival skills: -1xp less
Magic skills: At base cost.
Choosing Skills
So, let’s go back to Dave, our erstwhile elven warrior. He’s got 10xp to spend on starting level skills with the following modifiers:
Combat skills: +1xp more
Survival skills: +2xp more
Magic skills: -2xp less.Dave decides he’d quite like to use a bastard sword 1-handed with a shield. Looking up the costs in the table, the 1 handed weapon skill costs 3xp, and the shield skill costs 1xp. However, Dave has a +1xp modifier on skills in the combat table, so they cost him 4xp and 2xp respectively.
With his remaining 4xp, Dave decides some padded armour would be useful. On the table rank 2 armour costs 2xp. With his modifier this costs him 3xp.
He decides to save the remaining 1xp for future use when he might be able to afford a few more skills!
His character sheet currently looks like:
Hits per location: 6
Defence value: 21H Sword – 4xp
Shield – 2xp
Padded Armour – 3xpXP to spend: 1xp
Susan on the other hand has modifiers:
Combat skills: +2xp more
Survival skills: -1xp less
Magic skills: At base cost. She decides to use daggers, so spends 3xp on the short weapons skill (after modifiers). She looks at precision and decides to by grade 1, which costs her 4xp. She can’t get leather armour yet, so decides to buy some dexterity. Rank 1 costs her 1xp, rank 2 costs her 1xp. Rank 3 would cost her 4xp which she can’t afford.
Her character sheet currently looks like:
Hits per location: 6

Dexterity I – 1xp
Dexterity II – 1xpXP to spend: 1xp
